How have I never heard of this show before?

I'm watching it right now and it's hilarious!! I just saw this is the third season. Have the other 2 seasons been this funny?

reply

I'm thinking the same thing.

Sometime i will look back on the 1st 2 seasons to see what i missed.

I agree and the fact that it was canceled and this is the revived series is beyond me. This show is amazing!

I wouldn't say it was canceled. It got a lot of press so they had to wait to do it again. I think season 2 was filmed before season 1 aired so that's how they got away with it.

The same way fox couldn't do joe millionaire. People had to forget.

The first 2 seasons were this funny though I would say that this third season is a better at describing just how dumb reality shows have gotten.

When the first two Joe Schmo's came out (which was like almost 10 years ago) reality shows were just starting to pick up steam. Now, you get these reality shows where there are things that are completely whacked out, thus making it even more believable to the "Joe".

The Joe Schmo Show was the funniest reality show on cable television back in the day. Kristen Wiig was on it and other actors who have gone on to be very funny.

I can honestly say Season 2 at the time made me and my friends laugh so hard that we literally fell out of our chairs.

The show was never really cancelled. The problem was that it was very hard to pull off an idea like "Joe Schmo" a third time. They barely got away with it the second time. When you watch season 2 you will understand.

For some reason it also took 5 years to release Season 2 on DVD when Season 1 came out almost immediately.

It's also important to note that when they started this show there weren't very many competition reality TV shows. So all the wild things they did seemed totally crazy at the time.

using the same host was risky, but his disguise worked.

Jo Newman has the toughest job...to not react to any sound at all. He didn't catch her in episode two, but it looks like he will in a later episode.

I have a feeling that she's gonna tell him that she's not really deaf at some point anyway. It would be funny if Karlee and Stan were really escape convicts on the run.

reply

At the rate at which they're going, I have a feeling that eventually they're just going to have to reveal that she's not deaf. That wouldn't be a show-breaker, she could just admit to having faked it to try to get ahead.

Oh, and for those that are watching for the first time and want to look back, both season one and season two are on DVD.

reply

he'll figure it out soon enough.

"Karlee there's a rat next to your leg!!!

"Eek! I mean, 'what? I'm deaf I can't hear you'"

The first season with Matt was the most hilarious one. He really was clueless about the whole thing. His 'What is going on?!' thing was just classic.

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

It was hillarious! I loved the Hutch. The competitions were fun, I think I remember one called "Hand on the Hooker".

It was, and Matt actually took his hand off the hooker because he wanted a room to himself. Initially he was rooming together with someone else and he wanted a room of his own, even if it meant sleeping in the laundry room. So he took his hand off, which shocked everyone there-- they expected him to play to win.

*Spoilers*

Ahh, now I remember. I just about pissed myself when the Hutch came back and his plate was glued back together :)

The first was amazing :) I totally forgot about the second one, but it was smart to wait this long for the third. I can't believe that they "enter" lady justice LOL.

reply

How could you guys not mention the awesome bee costume, or the psycho falcon? Good times, good times.

reply

The falcon was funny, but the best part about that, wasn't the actual falcon, but rather the papier-mache one that they created after the falcon was "killed." That thing was hilarious, especially when Tim asked if it was Montecore, stuffed.

reply

The only thing funnier to me was the Bryce murder plot, man that was wicked. I remember Tim asking "Did you kill the *beep* bird?" I got a sore throat from laughing at that part.

reply

The other 2 seasons are actually way better, IMO. Especially season 1.
