I'm confused about the deaf girl
It seemed as if they never explained how they got away with it. Did they manipulate Chase so much as to make him think it didn't happen?
I don't get it...any explanation would be helpful.

I think they said someone changed the subject..
I can't believe they didn't choose to vote her.off after that.. that character really is a
liability...
I personally think if something like this happens they should immediately turn on the actor. Have the other cast members accuse her of lying. That way it looks like one person trying to scam the show and not the other way around... The fact that everyone else ignored it would make me really suspicious.
shareThe right answer might have been for someone to whisper, "Dude, some deaf people can hear a little still. Be cool."

Exactly. That's exactly what I think they'll do if there's no longer any way around it-- claim that she was faking a disability. I think it's even been done before on one or more reality shows. It certainly happens in fiction a lot, and sometimes in real life.
As for how they got away with it, yeah, pretty simple. Everyone else just sort of ignored it and then one of the other actors swiftly changed the subject and counted on the fact that Chase doesn't like drama and he wasn't going to try to press it.
Exactly, re: Chase not liking drama. I think that's why he didn't say anything else at the time, but later talking in the confessional thing he mentioned how it was weird and he thought maybe someone was messing with him. Chase seems like a sensitive guy so he probably didn't want to press her on it for fear of looking like a mean person or something (which obviously he wouldn't be even if he did ask her what the heck just happened). It kind of works to the casts advantage that Chase shies away from probing things like that, although he seems perfectly comfortable engaging everyone about normal topics like their college history, etc. So they do have to be on their toes but may be lucky enough that he won't raise issues that are a bit edgy.

She is cute. She's funny too. I just can't believe how hard it would be to pretend you're deaf all the time. I mean, why didn't they just give her some big ear plugs and make it look like hearing aids or something and say she could hear some faint sounds.
I'm a seeker too. But my dreams aren't like yours...
I was actually thinking the same thing. I have known deaf people to wear hearing aids on their ears. I think it would have made sense to have her not be able to hear much of what is actually going on... could have even pumped music into her ears...
One thing that actually happened close to this recently was the last season of MasterChef here in the US. The woman who won the entire show was "blind" and the show played it up that she could not see anything... It came out later that she is in fact not completely blind and can see some things, albeit blurry and what not. In this case the show actually knew but decided to play it up as if she could not see anything, even though she said in interviews that she had let them know...
Chase said to the camera, "It happened so quick I'm not sure if she was even turning her head towards me, but it definitely struck my attention." Then Randy asked him if he could do a handstand, I guess getting Chase's mind off of it and moving on.

i love her. i could watch the mr wentworth show 24/7
shareShe does not suck. She has the hardest job out of all of the actors. It's extremely difficult to pretend you can't use one of your senses. I'm pretty sure anyone would have gotten scared by that champagne bottle if they weren't looking. Hearing a loud noise and jumping is an involuntary thing. When you hear someone speak to you, your knee jerk reaction is to answer. She did mess up, but she does not suck. It's very hard to pretend you can't hear when you can.
shareI agree. I don't know why you would make one of the characters deaf and then hire an actress to play her that can actually hear. That's a huge risk to take when they are trying to convince this guy that the show is real. Now if the plan was that she was going to pretend to be deaf in order to get an advantage and then have it revealed, that would have been a good idea. That is obviously not what the plan was, so they should have never hired her to play that part. If they wanted a deaf character, they should have hired a deaf actress to play her. It's almost like they want to get caught.
shareTrue. I thought after she messed up they would go that route. They could have had someone bring up the idea that maybe she was faking for the sympathy vote. I think that would have been interesting, but oh well.
shareI still think it was always a possibility if Chase became very verbal in trying to call it out, but for the time being, he seems to have decided to let it fly.

Agree. How awesome was it that even after the Wentworth singing thing broke up and Chase walked away with his inmate, she STILL was dying laughing. To me, that's one of the best parts of the show.
Yes the most logical save would be for someone to tell him she can hear a little or she's a certain percentage deaf, show saved.
shareYeah, if they are pushed against the wall, that makes the most sense. I think their big fear is that if he sees one person as having lied or "faked" something, it might get the wheels turning in his head that maybe there is more to this than he sees. Especially when he starts to put together all the ridiculous things that have happened. So they are probably nervous that it will all be too much and revealing a semi-fake deaf girl might light the spark that blows it all up.
Still, they will have to do it if he continues to question her. I'm actually starting to wonder if they planned on having her win the whole thing right before the big reveal to Chase. Because if she wins, they could have her be so excited that she starts speaking normal or something, revealing her having faked it the whole time. Then Chase will be pissed and they can pull the gotcha after she is reprimanded by Jake or something.
