In the Convict episode, why didn't they...

Two things from that Take Your Convict to Work Day episode:

When Carly the deaf girl started to lose it with Mr. Wentworth, she tried to hide it. And that actually made it look like she was crying. I don't think it would be that hard to pass that off as her being emotional about being deaf or something. Or stressed about the contest.

At first I figured that's what Chase had to think, because what else could he think was going on there? I suppose he could just think she was sort of crazy. Since they never show any cuts of him talking about it in the confessional, I'm guessing he forgot about it given all the hoopla with the escaped convict. And I'm sure they weren't going to prompt him to talk about it either - best to just hope he totally forgot about it.

The other thing I didn't understand from that episode was why people outside the window made Chase think something weird was going on. Why would that matter? People are probably all over the place setting up the contests, the voting off set, etc. Why would that seem weird?

Sure, a convict took off so maybe everyone was supposed to stay put, but they could just say those people walking around outside didn't know about it and were trying to do there job.

Hopefully they explain it a little more in the next episode. Especially since it would be nice to know WHY those people actually were out there during a very important part of the show where everyone needed to play along as best as possible.

i think we'll find out more about the window scene next week, they like to keep us out of the loop, i dont think chase has figured it out but they seem to be pushing the envelope this season (and a little sloppy) makes for good drama

They messed up. They wouldn't let Chase enter the bedroom when the convict was using the bathroom. Then they told everyone to get inside because he escaped. They questioned Chase as if he helped the guy escape. Then they walked him to the window and he sees the crew breaking down the set (with a ladder no less). Remember this guy is supposed to be a murderer and they made Chase think everyone was on high alert with that "Fugitive" speech.

No, he's not supposed to be a murderer. He was in jail for attempted murder.

Even with the speech and the supposed seriousness of it all. It had to be about twenty minutes or so since he escaped. The crew doing their job close to the house would not be too ridiculous a thing. They could even tell Chase a few guards were right nearby on watch.

It seems as though the bathroom scenes, along with Mr. Wentworth scene was filmed before the Obstacle course. All of the contestants had the same clothes from the course on clean during these part which chronologically happened after the obstacle course.

Also of note, the van scene didn't have LV and Allison in it, so that was filmed at a later time after the escaped convict as well. We know Allison is next. We also saw how Chase's cut was inconsistant as well.

I have a feeling that the producers had to re-order a lot of footage and show extensive recaps (seriously, half the show is recaps!) because Chase finds out before the end, but too far into the shooting to re-do with another schmo.

Oh, and Go-RedSox! (Sorry!)

The escape can't have been filmed before the obstacle because Chase's convict was in the obstacle challenge. There's no way he escapes, they find him, and then he still participates in the obstacle course. Chase might be buying a lot of the ridiculous things going on, but there's no way they could make that real.

That is probably true regarding the van. But the van was packed so its also possible LV and Allison were both in another car like the one the film crew was riding in. Probably not, but it is possible.

Good call. Although I really hope he doesn't figure it out early. I think maybe if the prostitute skip was re-ordered, it was likely because they just didn't have much interesting film for the specific day (the pre-LV eviction).

Oh, and Go-RedSox! (Sorry!)

Ha. Well, I think both the Yankees and Red Sox are going to have trouble this year....

if chase wasnt tipped off when he held the "prostitute" at bay with a gun he never will. theres no way a reality show would give a loaded gun to a contestant and allow them to hold it on anyone, thats just lunacy. they might try to tell chase the fugitive was an actor but i think once he sees one part is fake deep down he has to know somethings up with the whole thing. i say bring on a new schmoe

Go-Yanks,

I agree with you on everything except the obstacle course. Every person had the same clothes on with no mud on them (including Stan in his shirt, slacks, and tie) during the Mr Wentworth and escape scene.

reply

Huh, I'll have to watch again. But if that's true, it means they caught the convict and then brought him back to do the obstacle course?? That lends more support to the idea that the whole show is fake, Chase included. Because otherwise it doesn't make any sense. If a convict escapes and is caught, there is no way they just go about their day and pretend nothing happened.

reply

My wife and I went back and looked. We saw briefly Chase had the same black shirt on (with a skull face), Stan has his shirt/tie/slacks combo, Allison had her tight camo pants on (hard not to notice that!!!), and Randy had his green "Shaggy from Scooby Doo" shirt on.

However...We were wrong!

If you look closely in the Mr. Wentworth scene and the P-Nut tinkle scene, the consestants and convict's clothes (notably Chase) still have mud residue on them and are wet. So they are the same clothes, but Jake probably told them not to change as it violates some BS code LOL

reply

Good catch. It wouldn't make much sense if the escape took place first.

reply

I don't know if you guys are new to this series but if Chase finds out they will just let him on the joke, give him a script and bring on another contestant. Everytime some calls this show fake I seriously want to punch them in the face for being completely uninformed.

If you rewatch this episode, you will see that when they exited the house, LV and Allison were NOT there.

Yeah, I remember that, which is why I'm almost positive that scene was shot after they were evicted. You can only make so many excuses like: "They were in another car....AND, they were both in the bathroom when everyone was walking out of the house in that shot...." :)
