this should be interesting.
i had always wondered why kubrick's last film sucked...
shareBecause Tom Cruise was in Eyes wide shut, that's why!
shareI guess you have to be just a little intelligent to get Eyes Wide Shut. It's OK though cuz I think there will be a lot more Rob Schnieder films for those who didn't get it to enjoy.

Saying that someone is pathetic for expressing their opinon is pretty ignorant and without inteliigence.

you have to watch eyes wide shut at least twenty times to get it.
Eyes Wide Shut is a very good film, in fact it was the film Stanley was most pleased with, his best film yet he said.
You faggots out there probably wouldn't recognize the work of a true man.
Read the biography, it says that it is combined from two film projects he was working on a porn film and a film about marriage, This is the result.
None of you in here can be older than 16.....I bet you didn't even understand 2001, if you have seen it that is..it's PATHETIC!
STANLEY KUBRICK is the man whetever you'd like it or not.
Steve Kivrall signing off...
EXCELLENTLY SAID BLEKKULF. STANLEY KUBRICK IS THE SINGLE MOST THOUGHT PROVOKING SAGE-LIKE ORIGINAL ARTIST OF MYTHICAL PROPORTIONS WHO EVER WORKED ON FILM. I KNOW I SOUND LIKE I WORSHIP KUBRICK LIKE A GOD BUT THATS THE ONLY WAY I CAN DESCRIBE HIM.
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FILM, LOOKS VERY INTERESTING AND JOHN MALKOVICH IS A PHENOMENAL ACTOR
turn the caps lock off, please.
And please, just because someone doesn't like a movie doesn't mean that they're a fool. Different people have different tastes, and insulting someone because they have a different opinion than you is not cool.
I must say Kubrick is an excellent director. Kubrick usually had a talent for taking bad adaptations and making good films out of them. The best example of this was, in my opinion, A Clockwork Orange. Anthony Burgess' masterpiece of a novel was horribly torn to shreds for this movie. A lot of the central message to the novel was lost (admittedly, the movie was based on the chapter 21-less american publication), and a lot of trivial, pointless material was added in. However, Kubrick still managed to make it work, and work well. If there was one thing he could have done better, it would have been to choose a name for Alex. In the book, Alex's last name is not mentioned. So, for the added scenes in the film, Kubrick had two choices for last name. De Large is based off a joke in the book, and Burgess is, obviously, the author's name. Both of these were used in the movie: de Large in the audio, and Burgess in the video segment of the newspaper clippings.
Oh, another thing - I would have kept the rape of the two girls in the record store. so much of the power of the image was lost when it was changed to consensual. And all the actors were too old, as well.
I love the book. I love the movie. This is an example of Kubrick's skill.

I agree with you easyrider1151. I was 12 when I saw my first Kubrick film (Eyes Wide Shut as a matter of fact) and I both understood and liked it.When I saw 2001, The Shinning, A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove, and Full Metal Jacket over the past three years, I loved all of them. I look forward to seeing Lolita, Barry Lyndon, and Sparticus, as well as Color Me Kubrick.
And I'd also like to add to those who feel it is nescesary to critisize and insult those who do not agree with you're own opinion are very childish indeed.
Eyes Wide Shut did suck in a way (story could have been better). However, I own it because I love the way it looks. I watch it around christmas time (gets me in the christmas spirit). The movie has lots of symbolism going on as well.

It doesn't get me in a traditional 'Christmas mood' its just become sort of a ritual around this time. However, if the masked people doing it doggystyle in the mansion scene were wearing santa hats... that would be better.
