representation of women
Does anyone have any thoughts on how or why the representations of women have changed between the original Alfie and the remake?
Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Because women as a whole have become more empowered and do not have to be content to live in the submissive type of existent they once did. How did that happen? See link below.

Well of course, just like we yet have women who stay in abusive relationships. But overall, the landscape has changed. Most women, like myself, can't even relate to what's going on in the original Alfie. Or at least the women I know.

My responses are directed to the women of the original Alfie and how I can't relate to them. I can relate better to the women of the "new" Alfie. And trust me, I didn't watch the "new" Alfie for the women. ;)
The original Alfie, I only watched out of curiosity after having seen the "new" Alfie.

Except for the single mother played by Marisa Tormei, all of the women in the new Alfie went into a relationship with him, eyes wide open. They new he was a player and they were too. All of the adults connected for sexual gratification only. Except for one relationship, everything was mutual.
No two persons ever watch the same movie.share
Maybe not but alot of them will still be charmed by an 'alfie' type of guy.
Phil Hellmuth: "I'm gonna have to bust your arse with that attitude, son!"
The truth of the matter is the fact that nowaday's more and more woman play the dating game in the way Alfie himself played it in 1966... a more interesting film would have been to portray a female version of Alfie; although I guess that is what "Sex in the city" is all about.
