I agree there are parallels in the two movies. But Munnabhai was way more enjoyable than Patch Adams which tended to be syrupy and maudlin.

patch adams sucked...

just because its about bringing happiness and whatnot toward patients doesnt make it the same freaking movie.

munnabhai was original. And the fact that its so much better than patch adams only substantiates it.

plus Hollywood is remaking Munnabhai MBBS as Gangsta M.D. starring Chris Rock. Now here is something one does not see everyday.

I agree with Ujval. Patch adams is on the same lines but not the same script or story. This movie was defo different. And yeh Its rumoured that they are makin a movie in hollywood based on this one.

I liked both the movies...There were some sceens in the move which was borrowed but Munna Bhai was classic entertainer

i dunno about you guys , but i found a lot of the material to have been influenced by stuff in Van Wilder which was a frickin funny movie . Kal Penn plays this character which can be loosely termed as a sex obsessed version of Circuit :D

I dono if it was inspired by it or not (although if it is--then its a very very "loose insperation" if that makes any sense.), but seemd very original to me. I would also say it was better than Patch Adams.

No ways, Van Wilder is way too different film. Which scenes or situations do you think were the same in the movie?

I haven't watched Patch Adams recently, though I liked it enough when it first came out to drag my entire family to it.

A few scenes in this (particularly the first medical school lecture were definitely inspired by Patch Adams).

Better? It's a matter of taste. I'd rather say both are good.
