is there any books of half life

i went to my local bookstore almost certain that i would find some books based on HL or a novelization of the games. i've checked on amazon and couldn't find anything. is there no books at all based on this fantastic series?

See my DVD Collection at http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=5556236(about 50% Complete)

The only "book" about Half-Life 2 is Raising the Bar,which isnt exactly what you would expect. Its just a small thing with inside ideas of HL2,lvls that were scrapped, some early concept art/ideas & intresting things about the characters(like the fact Eli was never meant to be Alyx's dad but a random scrapyard hobbo Gordon met along the ride ^^)...other than that...no.

Honestly dont know why an author hasn't picked this franchise up yet, they would have LOTS to work with and it would be an amazing game to book series.See what the gamers dint see,the real world the Combine have made.

Strictly speaking, it's not based on Half-Life, but HL must have been hugely inspired by The Mist, I've only seen the film version, but I'm sure the book is about the same. It's basically Half-Life 1 but there's a bunch of people trapped in a grocery store a few miles away from *Black Mesa*.

Sounds good, and I like the stargate quote.

I was surprised to hear of the lack of novelisations etc. I'd imagine there was almost limitless opportunities to work with, a stranded combine platoon having to fight off the infected near ravenholm, one of the resistance's members having to escape combines and the zombies, someone else escaping black mesa. Anything really, infact there's a woman at the start of HL2 who explains her husband was taken off the train by the combine a few stops back, they could make a book about him escaping the police and having to battle through hell to get back to his wife, then all hell decidedly breaks loose as the resistance starts up...

If you want stories related to the half-life universe you could always give fan fiction a try.

Hey, always good to run into another stargate fan! The Half-life universe seems to be rich enough to have some novels, would be nice to have one about aperture science and black mesa's rivalry, and different perspectives and all that. Speaking of, there's a somewhat not too well known other perspective of HL1's story, sort of like opposing force and blue shift, but it's only on the PS2. Decay http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life:_Decay is from the perspective of 2 other scientists, and it's being ported via mod by some fans.

I havn't got around to finishing Half Life, the original one, yet. I removed steam from my computer which had opposing force, blue shift, the full monty.
Bad decision now I think about it.
