Have they changed the game?

I haven't played HL2 in over a year but the recent announcment from Valve made me nostalgic so I started playing again and either somethings different or I have a problem.

I notice that the alternative fire for the crowbar has gone, it used to be a supercharged swipe which was ideal for dealing with Manhacks but now its just simply not there. I can still use the grenadelauncher on the SMG but the rapid fire on the pistol has gone as well.

Has the alternative fire options from some of the weapons been dropped or do I have a corrupt install?

I think you might be confusing different Half Life games?
The original Half Life had the rapid pistol alt-fire, and Opposing Force has the big swing alt-fire for the wrench.

I don't remember seeing those actions in Half Life 2, but I'm playing through it again at the moment so I'll check next time I play if I remember.

I am just replaying and nothing has struck me as changed, but it has been a while. I can't agree with you on the crossbow, ever since I started playing it has been the zoom function.

Of course, I could be misremembering or I could have come to the game after the function changed?

I can say with certainty that neither the crowbar nor the pistol had alternate fires in any official versions of HL2.
