Worst horror of 2007, here's why (possible spoilers)

(sorry for my english, not a native speaker)
I am really surprised to see this movie rated 4.6 here. It doesn't deserve more than 3.0. Why I consider Captivity to be the worst horror of 2007? Just one reason- it is so damn predictable. In the first 15 minutes You should already know how it's gonna end. If You don't- well, I guess it means You're not really into horror movies. Or not as much as I am. If you're looking for a good movie, that will scare You- try ILS (them). And if You're looking for a movie with lots of "stingers" (moments that make You fell off Your chair) in it- try SHUTTER. Other movies that know how to scare people: EXORCIST (yeah, I bet You already know it;), EXORCIST 3: THE LEGION (same thing here), RAZORBLADE ROMANCE (known also as HAUTE TENSION) or any other french horror rated above 5.0 on IMDB. I'm not from France;) It's just that they really know how to make good movies.

your english isnt that bad..of course i'm not an expert english speaker..my native language is Afrikaans...anyway, you just need to not capitalize so much..only at the beginning of a sentence, or for proper nouns, like your name, or the name of a city...anyway, sorry for the english lesson here..

but i agree with you...this movie was horrible! and the french really know how to make horror movies...better than alot of the lame crap american companies make...some american horror movies are good though..

If you're not part of the solution, be part of the problem!

I think this post was the best yet. It deserves a Razzie for English lessons. I find it amazing that you were criticizing this person's English skills, especially about the capitalization, when you forgot to do it as well. Besides the fact that you cannot truly make a sentence without using... instead of real punctuation, you seem to emphasize the capital letter in Afrikaans and not for English, French, or American.

This movie was a waste of time!!! stupid acting, predictable ending, i didnt enjoy it at allll!!! it shud get a 0.5 rating.

reply

Yes, it was poor, poor movie.
And the European version of it (or is it the second US edition)- where all the better scenes are cut out, there was nothing interesting to watch. I knew that the guy was a villain halfway through the movie.
I know it's been said before, but - well, what else can I say about it without going into details? I've seen lots of better horrors, as well as a few worse, so it isn't an offense to my brain, but it would have been cool if this movie was good as it could have been.

well when im on the internet why should i worry about capitalization and all that? its not like im writing a freakin term paper...geez..and i dont exactly proof read what i write, i just type out what im thinking..who cares really? i was just trying to tell the dude he didnt have to capitalize the first letter of every word...

Anything with Elisha Cuthbert sucks. She is absolutely horrid!

This is by far the most predictable, and thus boring "horror" I have seen in a very very long time. Nothing new here...

reply

lmao the exorcist was NOT scary. it was hilarious.

"FCK ME FCK ME FCK ME"

HILARIOUS!

kevin- in real time! like, REAL TIME!
joe- that means, in sync with life!

reply

This movie really wasn't that terrible, nothing new, but not terrible.

this movie wasn't that bad, but I'm not a too big fan of The Exorcist.

But your reasoning is quite lame, "this was the worst movie of 2007 because it was so damn predictable". Hell, you know how many predictable movies come out in one year? Probably 80% of the movies are very predictable. This movie wasn't good, that's true. But that's mainly because of a not coherent story and not too good acting. It's enjoyable if you love the genre (like me) but other than that you shouldn't wast your time.

This movie was the worst movie of 2007 for *many* more reasons than that listed in the title post. For example:
*Horrible "acting" (I'm not even sure it counts as acting, it was so bad)
*Dialogue that is so bad, a six-year-old could have written it
*Cliches out the wazoo
*A moronic storyline
*Predictability
*Dumb moments (the girl walking to her car alone, having sex with some random guy she only met a few hours before, the kidnapper wearing his full kidnapping garb even when he's not with the captive or anyone who might identify him)

Captivity sucked so badly that I'm seriously worried about the movie industry, because someone with money actually looked at the script and said 'This is a good idea!'
