Acid scene (SPOILERS)

Okay, I know that everyone has been saying this movie was stupid and I subconsequently agree, yet the part where the acid was being poured on the girl and the part where Daniel is getting his tooth pulled out of his mouth almost made me run to the restroom whereas movies like "Saw" and "Hostel" had no such effect on me whatsoever. Did anyone else find those scenes disturbing? Acid really bothers me.

reply

No. It's not disturbing. It's fake. It's a movie.

reply

Okay, Mr. "it's a movie" but don't people usually go into movies with a free mind so that they can enjoy the experience? Otherwise all movies would be pointless! And hmmm...I'm sorry that I get disturbed by seeing a woman's face burned off by acid and hearing her screams and imagining it to be real. I see you don't have an imagination? Do you also not have a soul? Phase me.

reply

The problem with the acid scene was it was too early on in the film. Would've disturbed me more if it happened later in the film, making me think that it was far more likely to be real.

As to the tooth pulling, that would have disturnbed me a great deal had I not already figured out that Gary was in on the kidnapping scheme.

reply

Okay. Well I can favorably agree with this remark. It was too early on in the film for that kind of scene but then again, I think I am just highly afraid of acid deaths. Can anyone think of any other movies that have scenes where someone either dies or it morbidly hurt involving acid?

reply

in Saw 3-the trap that she is in has a key but its in the bottom of a jar of acid and she has to put her arm in up just before her elbow and you see it eroding away the skin off of her arm...its pretty gross although not as bad as the scene in this.

reply

If I weren't in pain (fake acid, blood patch), I'd be secretly thinking what a coward the kidnapper is. Like uh, "his bark is worse than his bite".

I think I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

reply

Dude the first movie I saw with an acid death or mutilation was the original Robocop. Mind you it wasn't as graphical or detailed as in this movie, but the guy's skin did look like rags it freaks you out when your little.

reply

I remember that Robocop scene. It was very disturbing. Actually, the scene where Murphy first gets shot to hell and his hand blown off really disturbed me back then too.

reply

I had forgotten that scene I saw Robocop again and if you ask me that movie got away with a lot of gore and torture for its time and people didn't seem to say anything about it. His gun would actually blow chunks off the criminals and Murphy getting shot was disturbing.

reply

HUGE acid scene

reply

One of the best acid death scenes is in a movie titled The Beyond. It's got a much longer italian title, but The Beyond is what it's called here in America. This lady goes to dress her dead husband at the morgue and for no apparent reasona jar of acid tips over on her face. It's pretty lame actually but good too, you know what I mean?

reply

Robocop was and still is rated R 18+...

Probably why there was nobody complaining about it ;)

Want to see a really disturbing "death-by-acid" scene? Check out BARRICADE (2007) dir. Timo Rose. It happens in the first few minutes of this fun little low-budget backwoods-freaks are after us and want to eat us-thriller. In this case low budget means that they couldn't secure the best actors, that the screenplay is less than stellar, and that it has that low-budget camera look. BUT, the special effects for the gore are PHENOMENAL! (...if you're into that sort of thing) The first 5 or 10 minutes of this flick are packed with some pretty gruesome stuff but the acid scene definitely takes the cake. Check it out.

I agree with this. The big horror scenes were early on, and the rest of the film never came close to that level of horror again.

I agree with you sisolovesu, who goes into a movie saying its just a movie, honestly.

reply

" Do you also not have a soul"

I can answer that question, no he does not have a soul and neither does anyone else.

If that 'Love God And Are 100% Proud Signature' makes you sick, make THIS your signature!

why did you have to make an anti-Christian remark?

How is this relevant? This is just hate speech.

reply

Its just gore like every other horror film. It didn't do anything much like the rest of this dull film.

reply

Please don't even compare Hostel or Saw to this.

What acid scene? What tooth pulling scene? I tried watching this *beep* but I fell asleep about 20 minutes in. Then I saw the rest, starting when she is in the sand tank. I find it hard to believe that in the small window I missed there was some actual gore. How many minutes in is it?

reply

I just saw the movie and was wondering the same thing... When exactly are they? I only remember that some dude had some kind of fluid poured to his nose(?) through a filler, but that wasn't the scene you meant, was it? And tooth pulling? I don't remember any teeth either.

ARE PEOPLE SERIOUSLY THAT STUPID???

IF U DONT SEE ANY GORE OR TOOTH PULLING U SAW THE ORIGINAL VERSION

IF U SAW THE GORE VERSION AND TOOTH PULLING AND ACID SCENE U SAW THE NEW THEATRICAL VERSION

THE GORE WAS WEAK ANYWAY

I havent seen this movie yet, and was wondering. Who gets the acid poured on them, Elisha?

i don't care what anyone says..
i think this movie was so-so.

i can't believe everyone really thought it was that dumb..
it wasn't great but hello neither was Saw, if you're comparing it to that.

i miss 90s horror movies..
they at least made you a little anxious somewhat.
now its just a gore factor.
all in all though, i still would give this movie a 6.5 or a 7 i think.

reply

So, nobody has answered my question yet. Who gets the acid poured on them?

reply

No one gets acid poured on themselves, but you are supposed to think Elisha Cuthbert gets acid poured on her.

reply

"Acid really bothers me."

Then stop dropping it.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

reply

See dead and buried. They stick a tube up a guys nose and let the acid flow.

reply

Another good acid scene is is Cube: Zero. Guy starts scratching at his face after he's been doused in it and his skin starts peeling off.

reply

the killer drugs elisha & u see her laying down in a bed, her hands & legs are tied so she won't escape. then he makes her see this video on tv with some girl laying down in the same bed & a shower on top of her. she can't move her head, legs or arms & the shower instead of having water it has acid & it gets all over her facen & u see her face melting. DISGUSTING SCENE

reply

more diturbing was the tension of possibly being sprayed w/acid and a tooth being pulled is nassty in any context. but those were the best parts of this crappy movie!

reply

To me, the scenes didn't bother me. It was the thought of it that bothered me a little. I have a weird mindset to put my mind in situations like these. That *beep* would suck hard.

reply

The tooth part bothered me too cause i thought he was pulling out his tongue. I see hard core horror movies and pulling a tooth out, well not that big of a deal. I hated when the dog came out over her. I hate when they start with animals. I can't watch that at all. I kept wondering what happened to the dog. Like we all go to bars with our pets. what a stupid movie. I hate acid also.

reply

I thought he was pulling his tongue out too!

"I'm not anti-American or anti-anything. I'm just anti-dumb***-mother****ers."

reply

The scene was disturbing indeed. But what was more scary was the scene where Jennifer is bandaged and opening her blood soaked bandages to see her acid burned face! I was looking at it with horror especially since the (DVD) cover of the movie has a picture of an eye and what looks like a bandaged face!
I actually thought that the goriest scene was making her drink the human soup! I literraly threw up!

reply

This doesnt sound to bad. To bad my local video store still hasnt gotten any copies in. I thought they did something with oil to?
