Did I watch a different movie???

OK, so i just watched this last night, and I came on the boards today to see what people had said and it seems like I watched a complete different movie, with same characters, same plot, etc.

There are so many things that I did not see in the movie that others had. SOmeone said Daniel got his teeth pulled out. When did that happen? Acid being poured on the girl? Fat guy cuts daniels cheeck? she's actually a serial killer in the end? killed dog? what dog? tape of the 2 brothers and mother when younger?

There's probably plenty more, i just didn't want to look. Can someone explain to me why all these scenes were not in the movie? Was it the rated version on something?

Well I'm going to watch it again, but please post back.

You know dude, I was thinking the same thing when I went to these boards.

Seems like you did indeed watch a different movie. A heavily edited one at that. See all the things that were cut here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374563/alternateversions

Wow, thank you... no wonder I felt this movie had a lot of hype about nothing... I obviously saw the Spanish cut... I guess I'll hafta make sure I rent the UK/US version and watch it again.

thats a hell of alotta things to be edited outta a movie,eh??

suddenly i heard a tapping as of someone gently rapping...

lol yes, I was so confused. I watched it on the internet but they only had that version. I so wanted to see the bloody/gorey one haha

How long WAS the movie the threadstarter saw? 28 minutes? LOL!

You probably watched the R-rated version. The unrated has all the extra gore and a different ending.

just saw it on pay tv and though the running time is 90 minutes, it has a 16-certification, not even an 18 as the dvd version. so how can this be? the uncut version runs 81 minutes, but the tv version i saw clocks 90? nor was there much torture in it. it was quite tame actually. so what's going on here?

reply

You didn't watch the "original version" ... the original version is the "tame" psycho thriller version (that was only released in spain but is floating around the internet) ... so there was nothing "edited" or "cut" there. you watched the "spiced-up" gory version with all these splatter scenes that were later shot (by studio request) and added into the movie (only this latter version ist available in r-rated or unrated editions which are practically the same).

No wonder I never heard of any of these scenes I've been reading around the boards! No wonder I actually liked it a lot more than people calling it a "sick" movie because everything in the version I saw was heavily editted! Thank god, yet I really want to see the regular US filled with gore version! And yes, I saw Captivity on the internet...ugh, I'm so disappointed that I'm missing out.

hey where could i find the clean version? I want to see it but i don't want to see the gore and sex and all that crap!

I have bought the unedited movie at a very low price on DVD. I was a bit surprised at the low rating for this movie since I believe it is up there with Saw. Saw is better though IMO. I think many people rated this movie according to the heavily edited version.
