"We're joined by Jennifer Tree on the one year anniversary of her abduction"...wait a tick...something is off there.
And she's The Punisher?!?!?!?!?! She couldn't get a day off, but now she's still doing interviews (aka still famous) and is traveling all over murdering baddies.
I mean, you do have to write scripts to get them made, and this was a horrible script. Then you have to read scripts and accept them to be made. There are TONS of scripts handed in all the time, some tossed aside, some considered and tossed or pushed forward...the only way I can see how this one got through is that they said "We can do it for a million bucks, like Saw, and make tons!"
I agree with you OP. I don't know if you were disconsidering Saw, I personally like it a great deal - but this movie sucked. Saw at least on some level, has realistic psichological behaviour. I'm only talking about the first movie though.
Captivity was just HORRIBLE. If they would have gone with a little more realism and make a compelling ending - as in they'd cut her head off and play basketball with it - I'm sure it would have seemed less idiotic. The entire script seemed poorly thought-out. Not only that, but it indeed alludes to what you were saying : "We can do it for a million bucks, like Saw, and make tons!" Except the writer behind this was an imbecile that couldn't connect with the killers in any way thus making the entire experience painful. And again unlike Saw, the twist was predictable and the music sucked. Nevermind the terrible acting.
Oh and, the sex scene was one of the most awful things ever. It was worse than the one in Watchmen for that matter. If you're going to make a sex scene, especially with Cuthbert, then SHOW US SOME *beep* TITS!
So wait a sec - the ending I saw (on the DVD - unrated - watched it last night) where Jennifer becomes 'Dexter' basically - that did NOT show in theatres??
No, I think the theatre version is Jennifer getting out and just walking away - they show the poster of her with the "Dare" slogan on a billboard and ... credits...
Anyone else who thought it was funny to name the brothers Dexter as a family name and then Jennifer turning into "Dexter"?? That was like the only good thing about the film... and well, I LOVE "Dexter"!
where is the other ending? I just watched it again on Demand and I got the ending where she just walks away from it. So where can I find the other ending???? thanks!
From what I understood the movie was shot as a thriller with no gore and then later changed, The ending where she just walks away does not make a lot of sense with the beginning.
