Yep, truly unbelievable. I reckon they confused Russian Rubles with USD. 17m Rubles is around 300,000 USD. NOW it makes perfect sense!

...it's just another really dumb film, get over it.

Well I'm sure it didn't cost that when they did the original cut, but when they had to go back and reshoot to turn it into a Hostel like movie that surely added alot to it http://movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=2081862
