I apparently watched a different version. Can someone explain what happens here?

Spoilers (obviously).
There's a blonde woman, drugged up, cuddling a young boy. Then it cuts to her later, still on her bed, but surrounded by pills and drug paraphenalia. The boy is now sitting in the corner. He gets up and stabs her repeatedly with a knife then takes a Polaroid of her dead body. Later, you see a longer version of the film and this time can see there's another boy watching from the other side of the room (Ben).
What's especially ridiculous is that there's no explanation of, not even a question mark over, who was holding the camera!
That's right.. I smell a sequel or even prequel!

Brothers? With the same mom? Heck I thought the fat guy was the other guys dad or "daddy" or something at first! LOL! In the flashback they looked almost the same age, but presently they look 20 years apart. WTF???
-with lots of good will and maybe one small thrill but there's nothing dirty going on!
From the mother rambling about it made her feel good touching the boy I thought there was something incestuous going on which might explain why they turned out that way.
