Why were the brothers doing it?

I just saw the TV version so a lot may have been cut. Do they kill women simply because of what happened with their mother? That's a pretty big leap if you ask me. Possibly some of the scenes with the mother were cut that would explain it better.

From what I gathered, the brothers were psychologically torturing beautiful women, so that Gary could save the day, which would guarantee him some of that sweet "hero sex." Gary even asked his brother why he never wanted to act the hero and get to nail the chick.

There are far easier and less messy ways to get laid... Clearly they find as much enjoyment in torturing as they did tricking the women to have sex with them (well one of them)

Something like that, their mother raped them as kids continuosly and that led to them killing her and then they realised that 'hey this is pretty fun!' and kept at it I suppose

Because the script needed them to.
