Carved figures on the gate to the monastery
Does anyone happen to know anything about the two figures carved on the gate-doors?

shareI do not know specifically, but in a general sense i believe they are guardians. I know it is typical in Japanese monasteries to have wrathful entities/deities at the entrance in order to scare away or repel harm-doers, also i think this is the case with the Tibetan tradition.
If you look at this article about a famous temple in Japan, you can read more about the wrathful gods protecting the entrance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaminarimon

They looked pretty bad ass. They seemed like old samurai warriors but then again this was suppose to take place in Korea, so...
~What if this is as good as it gets?!~
