Not bad

I have watched Open Water a couple of times and each time I make the same comment. This film is not as bad as I have heard others say it is. True it is not exactly action packed but it doesn't really need to be. One thing I really liked was that the director didn't feel the need to use or in many cases over use CGI. (I'm looking at you Deep Blue Sea, lol). The sharks in this movie were real and wild. Not to mention normal sized. It's always nice to see a movie that is either based on true events or inspired by them. (Nothing wrong at all however with something that is completely made up though). You get a real sense of the peril that Daniel and Susan was in and you can easily put yourself in their swim fins. The location was awesome and the scenery, especially the underwater scenes, were beautiful and brilliantly shot I thought. Please be advised that there may be a few spoilers. I thought that the scene where Daniel looks down to see a shark swimming underneath them was well done and the thunderstorm at night was a little scary. Each time the lightening flashed it illuminated the sharks. (Much better than the scene in 47 Meters Down by the way). The ending was a little lack luster for some and it did open a debate concerning their actual fate. The way I saw it was after Daniel died from a shark attack Susan gave up. She let herself drown and was presumably eaten.
