Anyone out there that appreciate the different versions of Ren & Stimpy?The classic Spumco cartoons were terrific. The Games Animation episodes are not bad, I just feel they downplayed the darkness (although I've only seen their work from season 3, I don't intend to wath their later episodes). The 2003 series is grossly entertaining.Anyone like me enjoy the many different R&S episodes? "I just like going into strange worlds." David Lynch
shareApparently I'm not like all the other super-angry (ex)fans on this board; I actually like & appreciate (and fully enjoy) both cartoons, all the nick ones AND the "adult" ones. I love the nick series because it was suggestive, and so much was implied, and the fact that it was a "kid's cartoon" but it wasn't really was great. And I love the sick, twisted adult version because I finally got to see them cut all the lines loose and do the cartoon showing all the gross, disgusting stuff they could never show on nick. Short of being X-rated (and I've actually found a rough, animated X-rated clip online they did joking around) the adult cartoons show it all, and I think it's hilarious, and I LIKE being grossed out.
I don't really know how long they actually could have sustained the Adult Party cartoon if it hadn't gotten canceled so quickly, but I was always kind of surprised it didn't last into another season's worth of episodes. Especially considering Spike airs all kinds of other sick stuff. I was really disappointed they only aired the episodes briefly & you NEVER saw them again, but at least I have them downloaded from amazon.com & I can watch them to my heart's content on my own laptop.
Maybe the reason I'm not jaded like everyone else here is because in 1993 I was 25 years old; my dad & I would get up Sunday morning (I think it was Sunday, wasn't it?) and watch it together, laughing hysterically, much to my mom's disgust. I was already an adult when I got into Ren & Stimpy, so I don't feel like the Adult Party episodes "ruined my childhood memories" like so many people seem to feel.
