Are other people we dream about conscious? (spoilers)

I've seen Stay two times in the last three days. I have to admit that after the first viewing, I was quite confused. I needed help putting this movie together, and I am no rookie to the psychological thriller genre. Reading this message board answered many of my questions. It is true that the second viewing of Stay is much different than the first. It's a very rewatchable film.

Couple things that I didn't see discussed here and I feel were the movie's themes. Okay, much of the movie is Henry's dream or his subconscious during the last minutes of his life. Dr. Sam Foster seems to be the star of Henry's subconscious trying to make sense of it all. It begs the question of whether other people we dream about (or daydream about or think about) have consciousness? This movie is a "what if" scenario of if other people have consciousness within our dreams. How would they make sense of it all? The way the movie is shot is intriguing and I think quite accurate at least to the way I dream. Doesn't life seem to not make sense at certain times? What if. . .we were inside another person's dream right now in this plane of what we call reality? What if we are the objects of their dream?

Another point I feel this movie harps on but was not deeply previously discussed here was what happens during the last moments of life? No one has ever died before and come back to tell their story. Dead people have a way of not communicating with us. ;) Therefore, we don't know what it is like to die. This movie postulates what it is like to be dying. Do we actually make a direct decision to live or die? Can there discretely come a juncture where we choose to live a little longer or finally die?
