No Razzie Nominations??

This film should've gotten nods for Worst Movie, Worst Actor (McGregor - he tried, but came across as terminally dull, thanks in part to the awful script) and Worst Supporting (Gosling - a good actor, but on this film that peculiar "acting" thing he does so well is annoying as heck ). Naomi Watts doesn't embarrass herself too much because she didn't get enough screen time - or a sublimely bad scene of her own - & it was a totally "blah" part. But the other lady who played the Shakespearean wanna-be actress who got a nice rinse-spin on the taxi could've claimed Worst Supporting. The director & the script were definetly worthy of raspberry glitter. And, you know how the Razzie committee has a category for Worst Couple? That prize should've gone to EVERY pair of twins (or twin reflections) that were heaped on us because the filmmakers wanted to make sure nobody would miss the arty point of the movie.

If you enjoyed this film, good for you. By any means, watch it AGAIN. I'd rather watch Pink Flamingoes (a true work of art) for the 20th time.

Your opinion. My opinion is that everything you mentioned that deserved a Razzie, didn't.

I think you have to remember that the acting had to be a bit 'dreamy' at times because it was in fact, a dream. And I think McGregor created an interesting character and is always compelling to watch. Gosling was brilliant and Watts can not do any wrong. And the actress playing Henry's mother really freaked me out, which was her job, so she did it well.

The direction and screenplay were really clever and don't deserve any Razzie nominations at all.

I could not agree with you more.

I get that the OP may be a troll. If he is not, I recommend he recall dialogue in his dreams. This film captures that perfectly. Kind of scripted, and kind of not. Patient yet awkward pauses. Seemingly meaningless asides. Etc. etc. etc. This film's dialogue is emblematic of the dialogue you partake in when you are not conscious. David Benioff wrote it absolutely perfectly, and the actors performed it perfectly.

That is why I think it got such awful reviews. Critics simply did not take into consideration that the setting was not on this plane of existence.

The performances weren't the problem. It was the script. And maybe the director, but it's tough to blame him for trying to make something out of this muck...
