Daxus' metal nose plug filters

I know it looked really cheesy, Daxus' metal nose plug filters. He wore those throughout ULTRAVIOLET and it looked funny. But, it wasn't total make-believe. The U.S. military reputedly experimented several years ago with such nose plug filters. At the time it made sense, because of the extremely dusty and sandstorm environment of Irag. While the nose filter plugs may have worked, it supposedly obstructed normal airflow into the lungs, especially as the filters became clogged with dust and grit. This would compel the user to breath through the mouth, defeating the purpose of the filter. At best, the nose plug filter could only be a short term usage affair, and if the soldier was not physically exerting himself for very long.

It looked like a mesh from a microphone... Every time I saw him I pictured people talking into his nose. They're a bit hesitant at first, because he's the big boss and they don't want to look stupid by using it wrong, but then they go for it... *tap* *tap* *tap* Is this nose on?

I think it's in one of the bonus features where they mention that Daxus is supposed to look slightly ridiculous with all his germ-o-phobic rituals and nose plugs. The point was to show how he (and society) had become irrationally paranoid about diseases. So if it looked cheezy to you, you got the point. I thought it was a great touch.

They were blue boogers. The future has a very dry climate.

I like that he distinguishes the girl actress from all of the boy actresses.

What i think was way too stupid was having disposable guns... What would people use them for? anyone with money buys a gun and chaos emerges, so it doesn't make sense... Come on, guys! that's lame! especially if you're gonna carry it inside your suit. Without flat-space technology, taking the package out just makes him look like a dork. I dunno... I really didn't like Daxus... his screentime takes the spotlight out of Violet to me.
