Too Realistic?

During this movie, the corporation Dick work’s for, Globodyne, goes bankrupt from a scandal that is unearthed during a Moneyline financial standing projection. Even though this movie is a comedy, it does portray what has happened with today’s unethical company leadership and the aftermath.

Throughout the movie, Dick and his fellow co-workers are forced to find new jobs after their company tanks. Even though the movie exaggerates what happened with the Enron (Arthur Anderson) and Worldcom “executive suite” scandals, employees of these companies were ripped of their retirements because most of them were fully vested and completely relying on a company pension.

Dick had recently been moved into a vice-president level in his company and is wife stopped working. After he was no longer employed, the job market was saturated and he couldn’t find work. Fun with Dick and Jane puts a humorous spin on what life would be like after a struggle such as this. It should also be a reminder that we need to diversify our withholdings and not invest in the company we work for in order to have a successful disaster recovery plan and retirement.

I agree the movie has a really rare view on the upper class. I found it sad that once one looses a hundred grand a year salary they finally meet eyes with "Life". Makes you feel good to see this especially when you've struggled so much in life yet people like this have glided with out ease...untilt hey drop.
