So what exactly happened to Globadyne? spoiler... kind of

I still don't understand what happened with the company. Dirung the scene when tehy ar shredding all the papers, and Dick asks that guy what's going on, he says that they did something to make it look like the company was profitable when it was actually losing money. How could something like that work? I guess I'm still not clear on what exactly happened.

Globadyne was doing business with a number of puppet companies, so whilst they were appearing as successful, they were in fact only selling and investing with themselves.
