this film could have been better. obviously mediocre director/editor/producer at the helm. but it wasn't bad. enough funny sit-com scenes to carry it fairly well. IMDB's featured review is completely off base and, frankly, bizarre in its vitriolic assault on the film's premise and delivery (seriously, you drag out the cult classic What About Bob for comparison, as if that was a bad film). ignore it. ignore the absurd review, if you can even call it that. whoever wrote it knows zilch about film.

if you're a fan of vaughn and favreau, you'll get a kick out of this film. duvall delivers his role well, as do witherspoon and chenoweth. this is a seasonal piece, and we all know that christmas films for the most part are insufferable. this one, however, is pretty funny. it's worth watching. 2/4 stars.

What About Bob is an excruciatingly horrible movie. Let's not go with the "cult movie" card. "Cult movie" is like "S&M" in sex. Some odd folks may enjoy it but that doesn't make it healthy. Quite the opposite.
This is better.

I think cult film status goes beyond "some odd folks" liking it. sure in a cult film the fan-base is substantially smaller but the fans are more devoted/obsessive. I found this movie very very funny. although I'm not into S&M, I do like a lot of cult films. for the record I thought "what about bob" was a very funny dark comedy.
