I just pre ordered this movie on Blu-ray from amazon it was only $18.99 which is a great deal. I saw the film last November and I liked it though it was much better than expected. I cant wait to see it again this Holiday season.

Why did this movie take so long before the release to Dvd?

It's all marketing. They'd probably do better sales releasing near Christmas since it's a Christmas movie, rather than 4-5 month turnaround that would have been April or May.

They seem to hold back all the festive films after theatrical release - the same happened with The Grinch, Fred Claus and many others. As the poster states above, this is down to guaranteeing a better sales return and I can see the logic though I am sure there are many people who watch films like this all year round :)
