This movie has gotten better over time. I actually laugh harder at this movie the more I watch it.
You have to love Vince Vaughn, and I do, so it's pretty good for me. Starting to climb in to my 2nd tier of favorite Christmas movies.
I had the same experience. I rented it soon after it came out on video and thought it mildly entertaining, but not one I would ever bother to watch again. Yesterday, however, it was on tv and I decided to give it a second look. Maybe it was just the right movie at the right time for me, but I howled with laughter, particularly in the scenes with the awful brothers and then the Christmas pageant.

I watched it with a friend of mine, an educated, seventysomething who generally doesn't like contemporary comedies and avoids Christmas movies like the plague, but she laughed louder than I did and thanked me for recommending it. She also doesn't like physical comedy or slapstick, but the scenes with the satellite dish and the Neanderthal brothers made her howl with laughter.
