The speech on how she's a loser
I think it's really stupid. If I was the 'loser' girl selling tickets, I'd be really offended and be like..."Excuse me?"
Anyone else found that completly unrealistic?

I thought the exact same thing. She basically said "give me the chance to not turn out like you." I would have been angry if I was the ticket girl.
shareI would've slapped her. The last thing I would've done was let her in the dance. If I was Julie, I'd just run into the dance. There are a lot of people at high school dances, she could hide.

Agreed.
Julie's basically saying 'Your a loser. Your a geek, your a dork. I don't want to be like you, so could you please let me into this dance as a favor?'
If I were the girl, I would definitely have not let her in.

And what a jerky thing, for her to say that she knew her! She could've been an active, popular student who was on a committee and taking tickets was one of her responsibilities. Maybe she's had lots of boyfriends throughout high school, but she just happened to break up with one before the dance and decided to volunteer at it instead of blowing it off.
And yeah, even if she was a loser, she probably wouldn't take kindly to someone telling her so.
Well, the thing everybody can't understand about this
and first I'll say that I know this movie fails in many things
but both girls felt empathy and that's why she helped to get her in.
As most people said here, another girl probably could be offended and say "get lost"
even if the speech is right. But it would prove that girl has a miserable and resentful life.
"But it would prove that girl has a miserable and resentful life."
Explain to me how getting rightfully offended at her petty little insults would prove she's miserable and resentful? Maybe she would have a brain and realize how shallow, self-absorbed and idiotic that speech was.
BUGS
Julie was the real loser. What kind of person runs around town all night in a stolen car, breaks into shops and homes just so she can sit a certain table at lunch, so other people will think she's cool? A LOSER that's who.
shareIf the ticket girl really was unsocial, she would've stayed home and not sell tickets at a dance. Duh!
shareI wonder why Julie would assume the ticket girl was a loser? If the ticket girl was on any kind of student council or something wouldn't she be a pretty well known/social person around school?
And its so unrealistic that she ended up letting like 6 people into the dance for free. If I were the kids standing behind them in line I'd be pissed.
If I was the 'loser' selling tickets. I would've punched Julie in the face.
i hope it's going to make you notice... someone like me.
I saw this movie when I was about eleven and even I was like "wtf". All around terrible movie. I think we used to have this on DVD but I haven't seen it in years. And why is Steve Carell in it?
A STATEMENT IS IRRELEVANT UNLESS IT IS WRITTEN IN CAPS LOCK
