Did anyone else notice...

In the scene with Mia's 21st birthday ball she has to dance with numerous partners with all different styles (one may say) of dancing is a direct reference to Meet Me in St. Louis during the winter ball scene where Judy Garlands character Esther has to dance with many different partners (all with their own technique) and is finaly saved by the one she loves, just like in Princess Diaries 2.

Wow I didn't notice that, good call.
But Esther danced with her "true love" for the very last dance, whereas Mia had to keep dancing afterwards.

I just watched Princess Diaries 2 yesterday, and yes, it occurred to me that this scene was similar to Esther's situation at the Christmas dance. :) It may be entirely coincidental, but I like how both Mia and Esther had beautiful red gowns and white gloves.

It doesn't have it listed as a reference for this movie though.

I've never noticed that... Now I want to watch MMISL again. LOL.

And just because it doesn't have it listed as a reference doesn't mean it's not an homage. I've noticed many references that aren't listed in other movies.

I'm not finished!
Oh yes you are Captain... I mean Fraulein.
