Lily's personality crisis?

Is it just me, or does Lily seem particularly concerned with making sure everyone knows she's Princess Mia's best friend? I don't recall the words exactly, but there were a couple of times she felt it necessary to remind people who she was...

When she first meets Nicholas, she introduces herself as "official best friend".

During the parade when the captain asks her to identify herself, she also mentions she is "best friend of Princess Mia"

When Nicholas is throwing pebbles and Lily comes in to tell Mia, she announces herself in a very important voice!

Maybe I'm just being critical, but she seems to have a bit of a personality crisis in this movie!

If you're best friend were the princess of a whole country, wouldn't you do the same? I would.

The last time she's just trying to cut through the protocol of being announced to Mia, get in there & get rid of the maids.

Beyond that, she's in a world where you're introduced by name & title & her applicable title is "Best Friend". It also warns Nicholas of her loyalties & explains why she doesn't like him.

Everybody's got to pay the rent.
