I read a script (obviously not the final one) where at the end, some kid cuts off the "wings" from the shoes and discovered they make a sound he likes. Other kids follow and there's a comeback for the shoe.
I think they should have included that.
I know about this version when his shoes became a big success, but it's the first time I've heard about the content - how does that happen. I am a big fan of the movie, so thank you for that.
In contrast to your opinion, I think a bit differently; for me, it ruins the powerful message of the film regarding the way to deal with failures.

I guess it would have been a happier ending. Even if he doesn't get the credit, or if he does but he chalks it up to "I got lucky" and walks away.
