movies where the main character returns to his hometown.....

Hi, I'm looking for some good nostalgic movies in which a guy returns to his hometown after a long time and meets his old friends, falls in love with a gal and all that, storyline like this.

I loved this one and my other recommendations, if you love these kinda movies:

Beautiful Girls
Lonesome Jim
Garden State

APPEND June 12th, 2013 : Saw Flashbacks of a Fool recently and it is BRILLIANT. Daniel Craig and Claire Forlani were great. Definitely belongs to the list.

please recommend more.. thanks :)

I'm a fan of Beautiful Girls as well but hated this completely. Just saw David O. Russell's Spanking the Monkey, check that one out. Diner doesn't deal with any actual returning but has a great, great group of guys in it and some falling in love, it's a wonderful period piece, if you will, as well. Mickey Rourke is in it. Wow, OK, no coming back home in this one either but Tom Cruise's breakout role in Risky Business, this was a real surprise for me and I do recommend seeing it. Five Easy Pieces is possibly my favourite film of all-time but the tone is entirely different from the films you're looking for, it's more of an existential character study, but in it the lead character does return to his home at one point and arguably falls in love. Possibly Jack Nicholson's greatest acting altough there's a dude who's got so many.

Wow !! Thanks a lot Jimmy. I've already seen Risky Business, pretty good flick for a movie night. And I'll definitely check out your other recommendations and post back. :)

Some came running. Vincente Minelli directs Frank Sinatra, Shirley Maclaine and Dino Martin. A real treat from 1958.
