Really enjoyed
I have seen critics and every day people condemn this film. I really enjoyed its quirkiness and that feel good emotion I got from it. Like what you like and I will too and I liked this one.

I enjoyed the this movie a lot, but then I always love Crowe's movies. Overall the characters worked for me (except Ms. Sarandon...rarely enjoy her) and the soundtrack was phenomenal(like playing 'Freebird' for a funeral song?.. just clever as hell!)
However I personally feel the locations were the true star of this movie!!! Not as beautiful as say 'Braveheart', but western Kentucky has a very relaxing beauty all its own ---- an historic old southern cemetery, the quaint little town of Versailles(doubling as Elizabethtown), Louisville's Brown Hotel & all the iconic homes, stone walls, farms & forests that surround the Kentucky River Gorge. I have made several long road trips through our heartland and it's wonderful to take in the charm and spirit of America's backroads and byways....and if you allow for it, they're flush with moments of zen just like Claire told Drew they would be.
There are a few glitches, like a real shoe company would test market an idea shoe so they wouldn't lose their shirt, and the wholly unrealistic family-idiot-starts-a-fire-that-leads-to-sprinklers-on-a-big-party scene....but I believe the greats easily outweigh the gaffs and the wonderfully positioned soundtrack will carry you to the semi-predictable finale.
