Plot Hole? (SPOILERS)

I just watched the movie for the first time and I really liked it a lot. It's got a crazy, cosmic story and wonderful animation. I'm not a big Daft Punk fan, but the music suited the storyline for the most part (although the band looked like a standard pop-rock group, so they didn't really seem to fit the music, but whatever, they're also aliens (blues musicians, maybe?))

At first I was a little confused as to why the bad guy wanted to expend such insane amounts of resources so he could get an internationally-loved pop group, but that was explained with the cult stuff.

What I did find odd, though, was that part of his cult rituals involved the procurement of 5,555 gold records, and the flashback/reveal sequence shows him human-izing an alien into a Mozart-esque wunderkind playing the piano in the 1700s (give or take a hundred years) and I know it's a barely-there scene that lasts 10 seconds, but was little Mozart ET getting the Dark Lord a lot of gold records?
