Does anyone know what's up with the introduction? Right after the TOEI Animation there is a very low-res clip of a Japanese man sitting between the two members of Daft Punk as robots.
#1: Does anyone know what he is saying in Japanese?
#2: What does this have to do with anything?
#3: Is he the director?

Yeah,
1) There are subtitles for what he's saying in the DVD.
2) What he's saying is the use of animation and music as art, summarizing the purpose/theme of the film.
3) That's Leiji Matsumoto at some sort of press conference about his working on the film. He was the executive producer and I think head designer, but I'm pretty sure he didn't actually direct it; he was just the source for the style, character designs, and plot of the film. :)
