Karen or Deb

Which of the two was the one Dan loved most? He told Deb once she was the one he always wanted, but later, he told Deb that he had intended to breakup with her and return to Karen, before Deb told him she was pregnant.

Give Dan credit for having some powerful swimmers. Knocking up two women in those close a time frame...Welcome To The Jerry Springer Show.

Deb was with him when he died and no one can blame Karen for not being there, considering he killed the man she loved.

reply

I think he loved them both, but I think he truly loved Karen

reply

I agree i think Karen was the one he truly loved.

I think his whole marriage with Deb was based on a lie. He had a choice to make. Go raise Lucas with Karen and likely struggle financially or raise Nathan with Deb and be well off because her parents were wealthy. He chose the latter and ended up regretting it. That's why I think he was so spiteful. He knew he made a mistake and was never gonna have the life he always pictured for himself.

reply

Neither. Dan was a textbook narcissist. He only loved himself. I do think Deb got the edge in the college years because of her family's money and he probably wondered about what might have been with Karen, but he didn't truly love either of them.

reply

^This. The only person Dan was in love with was himself.

reply

Well he never had any close healthy relationships with anybody.

reply

Rachel. ;)

Out of the two, Karen I think? But I agree with the person who said Dan was probably only capable of loving himself. He just seems to have ulterior motives, like its hard to tell what he is really thinking and what his true intentions are. And he was just horrible to the people he supposedly love for no reason.

Dan loved Karen more than he loved Deb. He always loved Karen, she was the one who got away from him because of his mistakes and because he was too scared to put her above his father.

I don't even know if it was even so much his love for basketball, I'd say it was more how he compared to his own dad.
