When Brucas was together, most fans were certain that they would live happily ever after together. And Leyton was never going to be brought back together. However, every single show I've ever watched that explored love triangles, the creators always catered to both fan bases. At some point, Leyton was going to be explored (again), like Brucas was.
Well, my apologies then. But Mark Schwann did appear to have his heart set on Leyton then. But based on what I saw on season 3 for Brucas, and leaving Peyton out of it. Brooke and Lucas didn't have the happiest or healthiest relationship.
I also always figured Leyton would end up together. Also very often in shows the main character ends up with the original romantic interest, which is Peyton here, obviously. Also, in S3, just one or two episodes after Brucas get together, Peyton is having that argument with her "evil self" (aka the "Angel of death" Peyton) and she mentions how she possibly thinks that she should be with Lucas instead of Brooke. Showing that conflict immediately after Brucas got together was a huge sign, that at least the triangle was not over.
I'm not claiming that Leyton was better than Brucas (even though I didn't like them together). There were big and small signs that Leyton was meant to be, and Brucas was just a high school relationship.
I do know people liked Brucas together and that is their right, but when I watched them together in season 1, and 3. I could tell that both Brooke and Lucas deserved better than each other. Lucas was never going to put her first, plus his history of cheating on her, and Brooke was also guilty of cheating on him, and never letting the past go. (She also faked a pregnancy, not cool).
Right, I'm not claiming either way either. I liked Brooke better as a character, but I liked Peyton better for Lucas. In the end I think Lucas and Peyton had more in common and they just always seemed "meant to be", IMO.
I felt that biggest reason why Brucas didn't last as an couple, besides the cheating, is that they simply didn't know each other well enough, which showed a few times in season 3 (especially after the school shooting).
You're right. Lucas and Peyton always understood each other more. It's pretty obvious that Lucas was always more protective of Peyton too, and I think he liked having someone to protect.
I personally think Brucas ended because Sophia Bush and CMM got a divorce in real life. I'd think that it'd be awkward to continue having them play each others' love interests.
If that's the case, Brucas was doomed for failure, even more so because weren't the actors in the process of divorce in season 3? I don't like when the writer's cater their stories to fit an actor's personal life.
Another thing, I think it's obvious that Brucas got back together the second time was because the actors were dating in real life. I just think it ruins the flow of a story, when they cater to the actors personal life, and I say that about any show.
