Could Hilarie never coming back be personal?

Apparently Hilarie was married to assistant director Ian prange and they divorced in 2009, her last season on the show. Ian was the song of executive director Gregory prange.

Could it have been personal for why they didn't bring her back and also didn't ask? I get the feeling that's the case while rewatching the series because the later seasons take a lot of jabs at her for leaving. They mention how her friendship with Brooke faded and how Brooke was always there for her but when she needed Peyton she just left. And CMM made an appearance but she did not.

I kind of feel it may have been personal. Maybe she was having an affair as her and Jeffrey Morgan got together that same year following the divorce.

Neither Chad or Hil left on great terms IMO. Chad might have come back in season 9 but he basically made out to someone who didn't really care about his family & friends, which contradicts his character for six seasons. Plus Nathan basically forget Lucas existed (especially in S8 & S9) which is just as bad as what they bad as what they did with Breyton IMO. The interview that Mark gave when Chad came back makes it clear how bitter he was with both of their departures. I think her and Ian broken up for a litle bit before they divorced but I'm not 100% sure about that though.

The show could have ended after season 6, the last 3 seemed more like a spinoff without Lucas, Karen, Peyton. It was pretty bad when they couldn't get the real Lucas, they had to make a mannequin.

reply

I agree with you. It definitely wasn't good terms for either. Both seemed to have been written off in one way or another as if they don't care about the friends.

Though I will say if it didn't happen and they didn't add clay and Quinn, I don't know if I would be able to see three seasons. Maybe one or two but not three

Yeah, Mark definitely doesn't look great in this situation, especially destroying friendships he spent six seasons building just because his ego was bruised. It's also annoying since they did it to make especially Brooke and Clay to some extent look like the most amazing friends ever. Also found that article about Chad coming back (it's not the actual article, but it's copy and pasted from it)

I will say... I was not fond of Lucas in season 9 when he came back. Seemed so "useless"

reply

Agreed, he didn't seem Lucas-like in that episode

reply

Agreed. And what was with that hair? It was awful!

reply

I think even Chad apologised for it haha.

reply

Chad quit Hilarie got fired and they basically

reply

Hilarie didn't get fired, she even admitted in verious interviews after her depature that she chose to leave along with Chad.

reply

That's her way of saving face I get it she was wronged and her co stars and everyone else did nothing to stop it

reply

If she got fired why was Mark pissed that she left? That makes no sense if he was the reason she left.

reply

I think deep down never really cared or fought for her otherwise Mark who had plenty of pull would've made sure she stayed

reply

So Mark never cared for Hilarie? You can't force someone into staying when they want to leave.

reply

I would say that neither wanted to come back and both would have been offered pretty good money to at least in the final season.

Lucas came back very briefly but you think they would have wanted him at Dan's death bed and wanted Peyton around for Brooke's wedding as well as all the other stuff that happened to her.

You think Karen would have returned as well.
