THE ROOM Turns 21 Today
Anniversary Dept. - "Oh, hi, Mock!" On this day--27 June--in 2003, unter-auteur Tommy Wiseau's THE ROOM was first unleashed upon the world. Looking as if it was made in 2 days with $50, Wiseau actually spent $6 million on his epic statement. The ineptness shown in its every frame was staggering, as if beings from another world who had never seen a movie had suddenly appeared in our midst intent on shooting one. Making Ed Wood at his worst look masterly by comparison, it completely redefined viewers' concept of what constituted a "bad movie," and became a cult hit that will likely still have people laughing away plentiful portions of their own posteriors long after we're all gone.
"Lisa, you tearing me apaht!"
