“My God! It’s full of stars!”
What I believe farcoat is trying to ask, is a question about "The Manchurian Candidate" from 1962.
Richard Condon's 1959 novel was reputedly one of JFK's favorite books. After the Kennedy assassination, as the story goes, Frank Sinatra had the movie pulled from circulation because it showed a presidential assassination. Michael Schlesinger, responsible for the MGM/UA 1988 reissue, disputes this story, claiming the film was retired due to a lack of interest.
My instinct is to believe Sinatra pulled it, based only on my doubt there truly was no interest in "The Manchurian Candidate" for over twenty years. I have no facts to support this supposition.
A possibly interesting piece of trivia, Sinatra was involved with another film, both set and released in 1954, about an attempted presidential assassination, in "Suddenly."
