Most hypnotists will admit a person with typical will-power or higher can only be hypnotised if they are actually willing. It's well known however that ones with a weaker will, or persons "compromised" somehow, such as homeless, mentally handicapped, drugged, etc. often can be easily manipulated.
Examples of each which are very commonly cited are Basic Training & cults. The "anyone can be brainwashed" crowd point out that in 8-10 weeks the Army can take a city-boy who has never touched a gun & graduate a warrior who prays for war & dreams of shooting people. As a 13+ year medically retired vet, I can testify this has truth to it. They did it to me, but I didn't fit that description. I was a country-boy, raised around guns, & already wanted to shoot ... umm ... coke cans. Brainwashing? Not really. Every single serviceperson VOLUNTEERED, so knew at least some of what would be happening to him/her & was at least partially accepting of that situation. Soldiers are almost ALWAYS strong-willed from the start, yet they let the military change part of their personality.
Now look at cults, Jonestown if you want a specific case. There are LOTS of videos in the public domain which show the general state-of-mind of the members. It's obvious that a large majority of them are down on their luck, "compromised", natural followers, etc. With the right talker, these type can often be led to do whatever the talker wants.
