Please tell me why movies like this are allowed to be made?

This movie sucks so bad, I'd rather watch "Manos the Hands of Fate" - sans MS3TK even - than have to sit through stupidity like this.

I'd like to know why garbage like this gets made? Is it some kind of quota thing? Do movie companies have to make X ammount of movies a year or something or they face a penalty? Or is it a contract for the actors like Casper to make X amount of movies for a film company or he can sue or something? Did they find he's such a terrible actor that they stuck him in a terible movie to fill out his contract? Who approved of this script? Who was retarded enough to spend money on this to be made? How can the script writer and director sleep at night knowing their names are attached to the bowels of movie making?

I'd love to know.

Stop thinking of all movies as art for art's sake and more as a business to make money. Sure, Drac3000 is a crap movie, but so long as the producers make a profit on rentals and sales, then it was worth it. Sure, the actors know they're in a crap movie, but hell, they're getting paid to mail in performances. What the hell else is Erika Eleniak going to do pay the rent?

Yeah, I've been wondering about that very same thing myself.

Scriptwriter: Hey I have this script... it's about... Dracula!
Studio exec: Yeah so? There are too many films about Dracula already.
Scrip: But this is totally different! It all happens on board a spaceship and Dracula is from a *planet* called Transylvania!
Exec: Wow. What a fricking great idea! We'll call it Dracula 3000 and use the tagline "In space the sun never shines"!

I guess on the bright side, this film shows that just about anyone can sell in a script, no matter how retarded it is...
