How can they just find out about vampires and hunt them since 1700?

First they discover vampires are aliens from the transilvania planet and never heard of them before. Next, there are vampires in earth since the 1700s and the van helsings are expert vampire slayers?
If someone is bitten he turns into a vampire, where was the original crew?

With what you say, you are implying that this movie actually maintains some kind of consistency. But alas, it doesn't. :D
