Aspect Ratio?
Does anyone know the ratio for this film? I have the DVD and can tell that it is widescreen, but it could be anywhere between 1.66:1 to 1.85:1.

According to Amazon, it's 1.85:1.
shareTechnically widescreen would be anamorphic 2.39:1 widescreen - 1.85:1 is just standard ratio, slightly larger than most modern TV ratios of 16:9.

This is from your provided link. I never heard of a "standard ratio" before. 1.85:1 is definitely considered widescreen. If you watch a film with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio on an old 4:3 TV it will be letterboxed. Hell even 1.66:1 is considered widescreen.

I was just going on the 15 years I worked in theaters as a projectionist. We always called 1.85:1 films standard and 2.39:1 widescreen.

Ahh, gotcha. That makes sense. Much respect to you as a projectionist. That's one job I've always been curious about. Were you around to experience the transition from analog to digital?
