When George Michael asks Lindsay about his mother's engagement ring, the narrator says, "Lindsay was currently wearing it on her middle toe, roast beef."

What exactly does 'roast beef' mean?

What makes it funny was he was going to use the ring to propose to Ann Veal. Veal meaning baby cow so in other words Beef.
