Laura Linney only shown in the presence of the other leads?

I might have just overlooked it but it did seem like she was only on screen in the presence of one of the other 3 leads. Daniels, Eisenberg and Kline all had their own storylines where they interacted with other characters or where alone, to my recollection Linney was never alone. What could be the reason for this?

I think because the writer/director does not really know what their mother did of felt specifically when she was alone during the period that the film covers, and I guess he just decided not to make something up that was he was not sure of actually happened.

Truffaut famously said "I only film what I know of, that's why you'll never see a woman alone in any of my movies."
