I stated this before on this board a couple years back...But how the hell would he know what the new VW Beetle designs were like, if he died during the first Gulf War? The concept version didnt even come out till 94 and the car wasnt released to the mass public till 98. Yet somehow he 'dreams' one up for Jackie? Its a definite sign from the director, coz up until the end... most cars shown in the film were generic.

And what about the question at the end of the movie. She asked „How much time we have?” – only as a over voice.

Both of these characters have just been through the hardest... How am I not supposed to cry if they both die? One literally and the other metaphorically...

It's a plot hole.
The kid that shoot Jack in the head is Mpampak.
Damn. Also if you have seen jacob's ladder it is the same movie.

I have seen Jacob's ladder. It is nothing like this movie. And, to the OP, thanks, u have made me doubt my interpretation of the ending.

I think this is actually a reasonable theory. The producers I'm sure spent more than five minutes picking which car to use and I'm also sure they were aware that the New Beetle was not around in 92.

I really do not like the "it's all in his mind" theory because it allows any illogical thing to happen. Any time someone questions or debates the plot other people say "it was a near death experience". Convenient. I don't think that's the intention of the movie.

Also as someone else pointed out - Jack does not actually see the boy who the doctor helps. So it can't be part of his mind.

I feel like the boy being the same even though Jack never sees him actually makes the 'its all in his mind' theory more plausible. If it's all concocted, who cares who he fake met or when? Also, how are they the same people if its not concocted?

The OP has an interesting point about the VW beetle though. At first I just took it as a sign of 'she has a better life in this reality', but maybe it was more deliberate than that. The cellphone and goofy ringtone choice seem like they support that theory as well, a bit.

If what happens is real (if it's not all in his mind), there is a chance he may have seen a Beetle in his previous trips. Maybe he is dying because of head trauma and dreaming of a better future but wakes up with "How much time we have left?". Even at the first trip the future must be correct because he gives the letter in 1993 anyway. So when the first trip to 2007 happens it is the future after the letter.

I am not really sure about the boy. It just complicates things.
