...Andre teased Cal about people liking him for his pretty blond hair (and then teases him for playing with it), and then when he mentions acne, Cal says "you're the one with the acne" and it seems to bother Andre. It was really true about the actors so almost a personal dig.

Also, using their real names probably helped them feel it was more real and personal.

The fact that they were friends in real life before the movie was made was what really created that perfect chemistry. Same thing with Rachel, who was also already friends with Cal.
