will it ever get a widespread release? or a DVD release?
I'm dying to see this, but I read it's only showing in a very select few theaters...why?

I know it will be released on DVD, and will be released to more theaters in October...I saw it at the New Haven Film Festival last year and it's really good, so watch for it to come to a theater close to you.
sharethere is a copy floating around the net right now, the movie was fairly boring, I didn't enjoy it very much, watch Home Room instead.
shareHome Room was a joke seriously.Bad acting, laughing stock of a story to go with the "school shooting" scenario.I'm not comparing it to anything at all just saying it wasn't to good as a film.
shareSaw it yesterday on the Filmfestivan in Ghent (Beglium) and I thought it was a strong movie.
If you're looking for the next Hollywood bloodbath, you'll be very dissapointed in thisone.
And don't be fooled by the 'Blair Witch' comparisons. The only thing they have both is the 'young people doing stupid things filming themselves' technique.
But I thought it gave us a good view on what the problem is with these kids. It didn't pretend to show what happened at Columbine. It's just inspired by that event, nothing more.
I gave it a 9/10

Honestly, this movie is not strong enough for a widespread release. It's weak and boring and nothing greater than a student film.
Especially since Bowling for Columbine won the Oscar and Gus Van Sant's Elephant won the Palme D'Or, I see this movie getting lost.
This movie played at a special screening at my college. Andre Keuck even came and spoke to us. He did a pretty good job fielding the questions but he didn't exactly convince me as to why this movie is supposed to be good.
It is indeed not fit for a widespread release. Not becouse it isn't good enough or anything, it's just not mainstream enough.

Not only that, but school shootings are also still a very sensitive topic.
I hope this is better than Elephant, and doesn't include pointless characters like Benny.
Well, Benny was no more pointless than any other charactor in the film. From what I understand, the point of that was to show that in situations like this, there are few (if any) heroes. Anyone can get shot. Anyone can get killed. Noone is exempt.
shareHah. You fool. Elephant is a masterpiece. Zero Day is utterly terrible.

1. Because it's indie.
2. It is certainly one of the most difficult films to market.
Though interesting that it's the second Columbine-themed film to be out around this period -- Elephant's the other one, also an excellent flick.
But yeah, hope it comes out on DVD.
DVD release will be on April 5, 2005 from Home Vision Entertainment with a lot of extras
shareIt is available on VOD outside the US here: http://indiemondo.com/zero-day/
