It seems obvious to me that this movie is pretty much an attempt to recreate the columbine event.
Andre kriegman seems to me to be representing eric harris; he is angry like harris feared by people like harris was, seen as weird and hateful like harris. Definately seemed to be the brains and dominant force behind the assault like Harris was

Cal seemed to represent dylan more the quiet type who went to the school prom who was suicidal and in some degreee led along by andre.

However in the final scenes depicting the massacre within the library the footage that doesent exist for the real columbine cal seems to represent Eric Harris far more. He is the one screaming at students and taunting them more, until the suicide it seems that the two shooters switch roles.

Of course this script is all modeled after the Columbine incident.

One has only to look at pics of Harris and Klebold to see that it even influenced Coccio's choice of actors. There are many other parts "borrowed" from Columbine like the character "Rachel Lurie" which probably stands for the girl Klebold send a love and goodbye letter before the killing spree; police never disclosed her name. Also the burning of the two crosses at the end has an eerily counterpart in real life: The father of killed student Daniel Rohrbough chopped down 2 of the 15 wooden crosses erected in Cement Park, he wanted to protest that the killers were included in the victims memorial.

Your observation about them switching roles is interesting, although it's Calvin taking the lead in the suicide and not Andre. Nobody knows but I could picture the suicide went exactely like that; Klebold was definitely suicidal while Harris was the leading part in the hole thing.

I think that's a fair statement (that cal was dylan, andre was eric). Along with the points rebeccajones_littledevil made. Also, the characters in the movie actually look something like Harris and Klebold, in that one has darker hair, the other has lighter. And it was a good observation that they seem to switch roles in the end. I have to say I didn't notice it but now I think about it, it's a very good point.

From statements by students in the library, it was as if Dylan and Eric did reverse roles. Dylan became enraged and began destroying things and taunting the students. He was the one to scream, "This is for all the crap you've given us for the past 4 years!", not Eric.

Eric was pretty much a psychopath. Dylan was suicidal and hurt and acted out in rage.

There are also a few witness accounts that state 'the shorter gunman' (which is obviously Eric) was the one that did the talking and that 'the taller gunman' (which is obviously Dylan) followed him closely wherever he went and just sort of smirked and went along with whatever Eric did.

So who knows?
