What kind of guitar does KG buy Jables?
Does that kind of guitar even exist?
If so, I'm pretty sure a $200 rent paycheck wouldn't cover a guitar with such extensive customization :)
i'm no guitar expert, but it looked like a gibson to me. that's just based on the look of the neck. if i had the movie right in front of me, i might check it out and see if it says gibson anywhere.
it's possible he got the guitar at a pawn shop with all the fret inlay already done, and then did the "JB" thing himself. it does look kind home made on that part.

unlikely about doing the inlay, that's not something that you can just DO, it takes a bit of woodworking knowledge.
shareI asked that same question about a year ago. I don't know why it isn't on here still. Anyway, the answer I got is that it is a custom guitar that Jack Black had made. I can't remember the name of the luthier that made it, but it is in JBs personal collection. I have since seen a few acoustics with very similar cutaways (almost like a Gibson SG) at a local used music store, but I don't know who makes them.
